Software Resources has an immediate, contract job opportunity for a Database Administrator, Advanced – Oracle with a major organization in Jacksonville, FL.

Scope of Work:

This position reports to the Server Infrastructure manager and is an advanced technical position. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical Oracle RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of the City’s applications. Work as part of a successful matrix team of IIS/Web Administrator, SQL Server DBA and Server Engineers.

Specific Requirements:
  • An eight-year combination of education and/or experience in information technology which must include at least four years of professional experience with Oracle RDMS Administration and proficiency with Oracle 12c, and 19c and RAC on Unix and Windows environments.
  • Experience with Oracle Applications Solutions offering products and their integration with eBusiness Suite R12.1.
  • Use of Oracle Enterprise Manager and other equivalent tools.
  • Experience with Oracle Financials and HCM – SaaS Solution.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
Deliverables:
  • Manages Oracle databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
  • Configures and maintains database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of application administration and strong DBA background in Oracle eBusiness Suite .
  • Applies data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.
  • Independently analyzes, solves, and corrects issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Refines and automates regular processes, track issues and document changes.
  • Provides 24×7 support for critical production systems.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance and support release deployment after hours.
  • Conducts periodic database restoration and recovery to ensure viability of backup methodology.
  • Performs cloning of database to development environment for application and database tiers.
  • Strong database administration (installation and database creation), Oracle Real Applications Clusters (RAC), Performance tuning, and Backup and Recovery skills in Oracle 12c and 19c on UNIX (Linux, AIX) and Windows environments.
  • Oracle eBusiness Suite installation, patches, and upgrades. Includes Oracle and Vertex software.
  • Must be able to work on a SaaS (Software as a Service) or PaaS (Platform as a service) Oracle cloud solutions for both database and application.
  • Oracle eBusiness Suite user maintenance and administration.
  • Proficient with JAVA
  • When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including server configuration changes.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for IT projects, products, and services.
  • Conducts proactive maintenance of IT infrastructure with minimal supervision including maintaining high level of systems availability, monitoring systems performance and reliability to mitigate outages and system interruptions, managing tools for providing early warning and alerts, and monitoring system capacity utilization and taking proactive steps to avoid over utilization.
  • Works with vendors to resolve system outages.
  • Works closely with other technology and application personnel to understand and implement application requirements, server/network/storage tuning, and configuration changes.
  • Works with external interfaces (data structures, security) to support integration with Oracle HRMS.
  • Consults in design of new applications and services to ensure they can be support by the infrastructure.
  • Diagnoses and resolves technical issues, conduct root cause analysis, and demonstrate consistent level of accuracy with basic problem resolution.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of a specific current technology, both internally and within IT industry, and its applicability to the organization.
  • Operates personal computer including word, spreadsheet, database, and other related software to include Visio.
  • Responds to and resolve assigned tickets and requests.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the City of Jacksonville Core Competencies.
  • Proficient communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to clearly document technical information for team review and for management.
  • At times when required, must be able to cross-train and perform other server and database functions.
  • Performs after hours work as required.
  • Performs related work as required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License.
